It was used for several years initially, but stored since then. The screen is a TFT Hi-resolution monochrome display that visible in normal lighting.

It has a Lithium Ion battery that seems to still hold its charge very well. I don't believe it has any back lighting. This dictionary is made for Japanese speakers, but can also be used by those with intermediate to advanced learners. Is a rare find.
